One man was killed and another is in critical condition after a shooting early Saturday in Capitol Hill.

Police reported the shooting happened at 10th Avenue and East Pine Street at 3:22 a.m., inside the occupied protest zone known as CHOP or CHAZ.

In a blotter post, SPD said that officers tried to find the victim but claimed they “were met by a violent crowd that prevented officers safe access to the victims.“

They were later told that the two injured men were taken to Harborview Medical Center by CHOP medics.

A representative from Harborview Medical Center later said that a 19-year-old man died and the other is in critical condition.

The suspect fled the scene and police do not have a description.

The Seattle Police Department is investigating.
