I've been waiting to try a product from Maine called "Bakewell Cream". Today being a complete day off, I decided to get going on it.

It's advertised as "a leavening agent for better baking." It seems to have worked out well. And the biscuits were quite tasty!

Biscuits and Gravy

With a cup of hot, black coffee...

scrambled eggs, fried sausage, bacon and hash browns...

Don't forget Texas Pete for the scrambled eggs...

and homemade fried apple pie...

I can eat this meal any time of the day, not just breakfast.

Bakewell Cream is a variety of baking powder developed by Bangor, Maine chemist Byron H. Smith in response to a shortage of cream of tartar in the U.S. during World War II. It is sold throughout the U.S

I'm with Rev. on that one. However, cheese and jalapenos make even grits edible.
