A day after winning his third term as Speaker, John Boehner (R-Ohio) said his conference had begun a "family conversation" about how to respond to the 25 conservatives who revolted and voted against him on the floor.
Boehner confirmed that the Rules Committee agreed hours after the Tuesday vote to boot two of the defectors off the committee: Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.), who challenged Boehner for Speaker, and Rep. Richard Nugent (R-Fla.), who voted for his fellow Florida Republican.
But the Speaker said no final decisions had been made, suggesting Webster and Nugent could rejoin the committee, even as some rank-and-file members complained bitterly about leadership’s retribution in a closed-door GOP conference meeting on Wednesday.
“We had a situation yesterday where we had to constitute the Rules Committee because of some of the activities on the floor. Two of our members weren't put back on the committee immediately,” Boehner told reporters.
“We're going to have a family conversation … about bringing our team together,” he continued. “And I expect those conversations for the next couple of days will continue and we'll come to a decision about how we go forward.”
Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), who also broke from Boehner, said late Tuesday that Webster and Nugent's removal is something that would happen in a "communist country."
I read this a Boner feeling the heat for this bullshit and now is spinning so he can keep 25 defectors from becoming 50. Boner is finding out that his half assed, brainless inside the beltway maneuvers do not translate well to the voting base. Punishing people for LEGAL activities is unAmerican at it's core.
This whole escapade is nothing but the latest round of Kabuki theater for the masses. I think that we've reached the point where US politics has melded with the Kardashians....
If you think about it, it really isn't all that surprising. Reading/hearing the political commentary of this week (from both the "left/right/middle") has been like following TMZ or Hollywood Reporter.
We are all expected to "oooo" and "ahhh" about this little snippets coming out.... "Oh my God, can you believe that he said that!!!" "Can you believe that those dissidents did that!!!" "Oh, they will get what they deserve!!!!" "Can you believe that he would do that, to them!!??!!??" and on and on......
If I had a nickle for every time I've heard or read "If you try to kill the king, you better be sure to succeed...." in its various forms this past week, I could stop trying to catch the 2 for 1 savings at the supermarkets and move up without guilt to the better quality dog & cat foods!!

I think it is Kabuki theater for their own amusement. Everyone outside of the 495 ring of garbage really doesn't give a shit anymore because we are all wise to their game.

It is just remarkable to me......

Agreed.
There are time when I watch the news and compare it to what would have been reported 20 - 30 years ago. I am still astonished.

While many are on to the Kabuki theater, many aren't. Many buy into all or part of the play. ... and we all suffer the consequences of the actions of the statists in charge..
