This Katrina Pierson running against the loser Pete Sessions in TX is AWESOME!!!! She is backed by Ted Cruz. She wants Boner out. She is SMOKIN" HOT.....
ZitatA Tea Party candidate seeking to oust House Rules Chairman Pete Sessions in the upcoming March 4 Texas primary says that if she wins, her first vote in Congress will be to oust House Speaker John Boehner, too.
“I do support replacing John Boehner as speaker. I think that his leadership has gone completely against the grain of what the mainstream Republicans on the ground feel,” said Katrina Pierson, a well-known Tea Party activist who is running a primary campaign against Sessions for the Dallas-area district he has represented since 1997.
Pierson appeared Monday at a forum hosted by FreedomWorks’ political arm. The group is one of a trio of outside conservative groups that has clashed with the GOP establishment, including Boehner.
The winner of the primary will be heavily favored to win the general election for the safe Republican seat, and one of the first votes in the new Congress will be to elect the House speaker. Sessions, a Boehner ally, is favored to win and has heavily outraised Pierson, but she boasts strong grass-roots support and is well-known among local Tea Party activists.
Boehner is expected to again seek the gavel if Republicans retain control of the U.S. House, which independent forecasters say is likely. No one has stepped forward to challenge his post, and Pierson couldn’t say who she thinks would be a better speaker:
As to who I support, I couldn’t give you an honest answer on that. I think that it should be a good campaign for those who are interested for the rest of us to see who’s out there and who is going to be willing to lead.
Two additional House GOP candidates who appeared at the FreedomWorks forum also cast doubt that they would vote for Boehner, but they were less definitive about their opposition.
“Well, when you have a contest you’ve got to have someone who would be running against the speaker to decide,” said Igor Birman, who is running against Rep. Ami Bera, D-Calif. “I’m very skeptical about the merits of John Boehner remaining the speaker of the House, but you cannot replace somebody with nobody.”
Barry Loudermilk, who is running in the open-seat race to replace Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., also declined to say he would vote for Boehner, just that he would need to see who the candidates are for the job.
Boehner faced some resistance at the start of this Congress, when a dozen Republicans cast protest votes against him. However, no lawmakers have stepped forward to formally challenge the Ohio Republican.
