One of Russia's most powerful tycoons and a close pal of President Vladimir Putin has proposed a long and winding road that theoretically could connect Great Britain to Alaska, via Mother Russia. And while a nearly 13,000-mile highway sounds like a stretch – a really long stretch – the major roadblock is likely money, not feasibility.
“This is an inter-state, inter-civilization, project,” Russian Railways boss Vladimir Yakunin told the Russian Academy of Science, where he presented his plan for the Trans-Eurasian belt Development, which he acknowledged would cost “trillions” of dollars.
The road would link thousands of miles of existing byways and bridges across Russia, a span of more than 6,000 miles. From the west, it could then connect to roads in Europe, including the Chunnel Tunnel, which connects Great Britain and France.
Whoa. I can hear the kiddos now....."Are we there yet?".........a month later......"Are we there yet?"
The reason the Germans invented and the US followed suit in building super highways is to be able to move large numbers of troop and equipment into different areas of the country efficiently. Anyone really want a super highway from Moscow to NYC with that in mind?

Good point. I did think of that. It would make invasion a lot easier wouldn't it?
So God wants to reward one of his most devoted followers with a special gift. He ask the fellow what he would most like to have. The follower replies he has always wanted to have a bridge from California to Hawaii so he could drive there.
The Lord responds with incredulity. He points out that even though He's God and can do anything, such a bridge would be unrealistic due to design factors, the amount of materials required, and similar factors. He asks His faithful servant to make another choice.
The follower then replies he understands and the second thing he has always wanted to know was how women think. Why do they do the things they do, cry when happy, follow some strange internal logic, and the like. Could God, therefore, help him understand how women think?
There is a pause, an extended moment of silence, and then God says, "How many lanes to do you want that bridge to be, two or four?"
"This is the most lavishly funded and entirely moronic foreign ministry on the planet."~~Mark Steyn's description of the US State Dept.
