Maybe you recall that on 9/11/2001 an incredibly large number of airplanes bound to the US from Europe were diverted to Newfoundland and other Canadian Maritime provinces because of the closing of US airspace. Maybe you heard a bit about the people of Gander, Newfoundland.... if you want your heart warmed and spirits lifted, take the time to relax and watch:
That WAS an incredible and heart-warming story. It makes me want to move to Gander, at least visit there. That's surely on my bucket list now.
What a wonderful visit I just had as a result of this piece.
Thank you Mr F or Mrs W, whichever one of you posted it for us all.

"Our problem is not the Islamic radical, but the inherent radicalism of Islam. Islam is a radical religion. It radicalizes those who follow it. Every atrocity we associate with Islamic radicals is already in Islam. The Koran is not the solution to Islamic radicalism, it is the cause."
I had read briefly of a small town that ha provided shelter to those who were stranded but not realized the enormity of their generosity - almost doubling the population of the town.

You are more than welcome, TM. It was me that posted it, I sometimes, well actually most of the time, use a lower case "f" on the bottom of my posts (see below).

I contrast this story with stories I have heard from several US citizens stranded overseas. When they went to US embassies for information and direction in securing temporary lodging the basic response was not our job, you're on your own.
