I wasn't that big a Star Trek fan. I liked Nimoy better in Mission Impossible when he took over for Martin Landau after he had a contract dispute with the network....

Leonard Nimoy, who famously played Mr. Spock, died at home Friday morning in Bel-Air... after battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The "Star Trek" star announced last year that he was battling the disease and attributed it to years and years of smoking. He had given up the habit 30 years ago.
TMZ broke the story ... Nimoy checked into UCLA Medical Center last week for intense chest pains -- but was eventually released.
Nimoy started playing Mr. Spock when the TV show debuted in 1966 ... and is the only actor to appear in every episode of that original series. He continued in the Spock role through most of the movies -- including the most recent reboot in 2013.
Aside from acting ... he wrote books of poetry, 2 autobiographies ... and even recorded albums.
Nimoy tweeted for the last time on Feb. 22, saying ... "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP"
"“Star Trek” actor Leonard Nimoy, who died Friday, visited Richland in 1972 to campaign for presidential candidate George McGovern.
He also addressed whether the then-canceled science fiction series would return to the airwaves.
Here's the story from the Herald archives:
"In the last 12 to 14 days, I'm beginning to sense the same kind of movement for Sen. McGovern as in the primaries, " Leonard Nimoy said at a rally in Richland today.Nimoy, who stars as Mr. Spock in the television series Star Trek, said he's seen the growing movement during his nationwide campaign for the South Dakota Senator's election.
He has spoken in 30 states in a tour that began in January during the New Hampshire primary."

No. LBJ was. All of the welfare/social spending programs that are bleeding us dry originated with him. Zero could only hope to do what he did. Nixon was a close second for dangerous gov't programs. EPA sound familiar?

Wolves dressed as sheep are always the most dangerous...
By the way, I'm growing rather weary of the cheap comparisons of Obama with Neville Chamberlain. The British Prime Minister got the biggest issue of the day wrong. But no one ever doubted that he loved his country. That's why, after his eviction from Downing Street, Churchill kept him on in his ministry as Lord President of the Council, and indeed made Chamberlain part of the five-man war cabinet and had him chair it during his frequent absences.
When he [Chamberlain} died of cancer in October 1940, Churchill wept over his coffin.
So please don't insult Neville Chamberlain by comparing him to Obama. -- Mark Steyn"
Major scandal here, kiddies. Shatner failed to attend Nimoy's funeral.
"I chose to celebrate life by going to the Red Cross gathering in Palm Beach,” the “Star Trek” alum says in new interview
William Shatner is explaining his decision to miss “Star Trek” co-star Leonard Nimoy‘s funeral over the weekend, saying the Red Cross event he attended was an important celebration of life.
“My understanding is mourn the dead but celebrate life,” Shatner said in an interview with Inside Edition. “I chose to celebrate life by going to the Red Cross gathering in Palm Beach, raised a lot of money for the Red Cross.”
The actor had come under fire Friday when he revealed he would not be able to attend Nimoy’s funeral in Los Angeles due to the Red Cross commitment. The New York Daily News dubbed Shatner “Captain Jerk” on its front page Sunday, while a New York radio host suggested Shatner’s Priceline endorsement deal would make scoring a flight from Florida to L.A. easy.
“I chose to honor a commitment I made months ago to appear at a charitable fundraiser. A lot of money was raised. So here I am; tell me off,” Shatner wrote in a series of tweets as he blasted his critics, including a reporter from the Louisville Courier-Journal and the New York Daily News."

Nor was I.
I did like Nimoy's narration of In Search of... back in the day.
