Red Bull Settles False Advertising Lawsuit for $13 Million Because It Actually Doesn’t Give You Wings
Again it might have been added at "Weird and Wacky".
"This one will be hard to top when it comes to absurd lawsuits.
Energy drink company Red Bull settled two class-action lawsuits over its claim that “Red Bull gives you wings.” It seems some consumers took the slogan literally, and when they didn’t actually grow wings, sued the company for misrepresentation.
In the settlement, Red Bull agreed to pay $13 million, money that anyone who bought a Red Bull in the past 12 years could claim (without ever having to produce a receipt). As news spread this week, millions of people reportedly signed up for a $10 refund or $15 in Red Bull products."
I wondered why I wasn't growing wings, didn't you?

Did the judge even get to hear this case? It seems it was one of those settlements between the parties done in a lawyer's office. Companies "settle" to avoid the cost of litigation. So when does a judge get to throw it out if the company folds?
"Red Bull, of course, admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement. Instead, it simply hoped to avoid additional litigation."
