I read the "The Hidden Gospel" a long time ago, and one of the things that stuck with me was the idea that in Jesus' native Aramic, and coming from a herding/agricultural culture, the Aramaic word for "sin" meant unfinished or unripe. Things that are not properly nourished in youth or are picked before their time, tend to be missing something and/or unripe. Like the prodigal son, they require more of God's grace than a Mother Theresa might.

No one person requires more grace than another. All of mankind is on equal footing and we all stand guilty of sin before a Holy God, therefore we all need a Savior.
