I never say "Happy Memorial Day". While it is a time for remembrance, respect and introspection, the death of the legions of American men and women who have died defending our nation is not 'happy', long weekends, barbecues and trips to the beach notwithstanding.
But if you have lost a loved one, or even a friend; if you've served and lost a comrade, all in the service of our country, remember. Remind others to do the same. And Thank you.
Well said, PzLdr. Memorial Day is not a day for "happy". It's a day for solemn remembrance and gratitude toward those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf.

Yes, thanks for your service and this reminder to do the basic courtesy of remembering those whose ultimate sacrifice was willingly made to defend and preserve this dream.
My son just called with his two children and wished me a "Happy Memorial Day". I corrected him and gave him your words of wisdom about the day's actual meaning.
In its original form the American dream inspired many. It was worth coming here for and it was worth dying for. I pray after the current regime passes, America will be able to recapture the dream. The Hilderbeast, Slick Willy, John Kerry and this clueless Muzzie traitor have done everything in their power to suppress truth everywhere! They know nothing about what made America great! Their dream is only to make themselves great.
