Poetic justice for Spector, not just because he murdered someone, but because he was a complete ahole long before that.

His first wife was Ronnie (Bennett) Spector, lead singer of the Spector produced (and controlled) Ronettes. She wrote a book about her relationship with Spector which paints him as more than a bit screwy. I read that years ago and my memory tells me Ronnie left Phil in the same way as Tina Turner Left Ike: by running away with only the clothes on her back.

Spector also had a reputation for being rather difficult to work with, yelling and bullying those who worked with him. A little footnote for your musical trivia collection: one of Spector's early assistants was Sonny Bono, who got his start in the music biz with Spector.

I grew up in Alhambra, less than a mile away from "The Castle," as we locals always referred to the Spector death house. Consequently I have had watched the Spector trials and read up on his life.

A true nut and just a mean SOB. He even treated his own mother like dirt. It's amazing he lasted as long as he did before cracking up.

Talk about throwing away your life.
