Minnesota couple hospitalized with smoke inhalation after trying to save their flatscreen TV from an apartment fire
A Minnesota couple has been hospitalized after trying to rescue their flatscreen TV from a burning St. Paul apartment on Sunday. A call went out to firefighters shortly before 3 p.m. that a six-apartment building on the 600 block of N. Chatsworth St. near N. Lexington Parkway and I-94. They arrived to find a couple attempting to disconnect wires from their television so they could get it to safety.
The couple has not been identified to the press. The room had already filled with smoke. St. Paul Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard later told the Pioneer Press that firefighters demanded the couple leave the television and get to a safe location.
[and here's the "tale-with" in this story... TM]
'They were doing the wrong thing,' Zaccard said. 'If you can't fight the fire, get out and call the fire department. Don't grab your belongings because they can be replaced. Your life can't be.'
