PAINT REMOVER ‘Karen and Chad’ deface Black Lives Matter mural with black paint on California street claiming ‘racism is a lie’

TWO people, dubbed 'Karen and Chad,' spent part of their Independence Day painting over a recently-created Black Lives Matter mural in Martinez, California.

The mural, which the pair tried to remove, was painted on a street in front of a local courthouse after city officials gave activists the green-light for the project to go ahead.

Within hours of being created on Saturday, the mural had been vandalized by a man and woman.

In the footage, a woman wearing an with an American flag designed in the shape of a heart can be seen painting black over the mural, while a man in a “Four More Years” shirt stands by her, recording and yelling at upset people nearby.

“Don’t have a run in with a law and don’t resist arrest, it won’t be a problem,” he says in the video.

Although the man and woman have not yet been identified, the NBC affiliate reports that their license plate information has been recorded.

'ALL LIVES MATTER'

In a statement to the station, one witness who filmed the incident said they couldn’t believe it was “happening right in front of my face.”

“I expected something to happen, but when I saw this, I got a little excited and tried to make sure and get it in and film everything that happened,” they told the outlet.

Ben Crump, the attorney for the families of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, whose deaths have sparked and reignited the Black Lives Matter movement across the world, tweeted the video in outrage. The attorney tweeted: "This woman DEFACED the #BlackLivesMatter mural at Contra Costa County courthouse on July 4th!
