The environmental movement originally consisted of grass roots action against big corporate which was passing part of the costs of production to the public at large in the form of gross pollution of the air, water, and ground.
It didn't take long for the statists to infiltrate and take over the environmental movement for their own purposes: the replacement of traditional American culture and ethics, and the use of specially selected technocrats to micro manage your life for the noble goal of a 'sustainable' future brimming with all kinds of justice. As in other areas, the real agenda is cloaked in noble language.
In reality the price for the future 'sustainable' eden on earth includes your freedom, your wealth, possibly your life. Interestingly a number of the PTB, citizens of the world, have secured large fortunes in the process.
