I found this funny because as a landlord, I have never evicted a deadbeat without them leaving a house full of junk behind. Looks like it is no different anywhere else in the country....

It is enough to turn anyone's stomach. And if one of those left behind was a loved one, it would surely make one's heart hurt with sorrow and hands shake with anger.

But now the funeral home owner is denying he abandoned the dead.

According to KTVT in Fort Worth, the mortuary business is led by twin brothers Dondre and Derrick Johnson. The pair are part of a cable television reality show about their funeral business.

Dondre Johnson disputed claims that the bodies were left for days unattended, the station said.

"Our landlord was trying to put us out the funeral home," Dondre Johnson told the station. "He discovered a body was inside the funeral home. He called police. One thing led to another. This is a funeral home. This is where they belong, so when you come in there, you're going to see dead bodies."

According to the Associated Press, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has taken custody of the bodies, with all due attendant care and dignity.

Police continue to investigate the incident. No charges have been filed, as yet.

Background: A couple of week ago, the property owner, not identified in the AP account, told Johnson Family Mortuary to vacate the building. The owner returned Tuesday morning to find eight bodies in the building but no workers.

The bodies, in various stages of decomposition, ranged from infants to adults.
