Some health crises are probably invented by pharmaceutical companies to help sell drugs. But most are concocted for political reasons. A cartoonishly obvious example is solastalgia:
ZitatIt describes a form of psychic or existential distress caused by environmental change, such as mining or climate change.
A joke, right? Not according to the warmist ideologues at The Weather Channel:
Zitat[I]t’s clear that some of the biggest impacts from Earth’s rapidly warming climate occur within us as human beings, like the sense of loss and trauma felt by hurricane survivors after everything they know – their homes, workplaces, churches, really their entire community – is swept out to sea.
Regarding the “rapidly warming climate,” it hasn’t gotten any warmer since the 1990s.
Zitat How we’ll handle experiences like these in a world changed by global warming is the subject of a new report, “Beyond Storms and Droughts: The Psychological Impacts of Climate Change,” by the American Psychological Association and ecoAmerica, an environmental advocacy group devoted to climate change and sustainability issues.
Both organizations issued the report as a wake-up call to all Americans, whom they say can expect “broad psychological impacts” on their well-being and health from climate change.
That means a future with heightened levels of stress, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, as well as a loss of community identity – if nothing is done to stop or slow emissions of industrial-produced greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
According to the report, consequences of failing to reverse the industrial revolution so as to impose a statist version of Medieval feudalism in the name of the debunked global warming hoax will include substance abuse, mental health emergencies, loss of autonomy and personal identity, and of course, solastalgia.
Telling us we will lose “autonomy” if we don’t submit to a Soviet-style, centralized economic system so that bureaucrats can supposedly control even the weather is particularly rich. But there is no lie too hysterical or too outrageous to be shrieked with a straight face by liberal establishmentarians where global warming is concerned.
Combine the solastalgia menace with the ready availability of firearms, and you have the makings of a real problem:
Obviously Obama must take firm control of the weather through the EPA, and firearms must be confiscated just in case deliberately hamstringing the economy by destroying the coal industry doesn’t produce optimal temperatures.
