Steve Hilton, former policy director for UK Prime Minister David Cameron, reacted to the election results as Donald Trump leads Hillary Clinton.
Hilton discussed how the outcome compares to the Brexit vote in Great Britain earlier this year. He said in both cases, voters who didn't support the establishment were labeled as "narrow-minded, bigoted, xenophobic and racist."
Hilton said that sentiment was on display with Clinton's "basket of deplorables" remark and that many Americans did not want to admit they supported Trump.
He explained that in both elections, voters rejected the impact of globalization. Hilton emphasized recent data showing median income in the United States is lower than in 1999.
"What that means in plain English is that half of all Americans earn less today [after] eight years of Bush and eight years of Obama. Incomes are down and it's no wonder that they look to someone, anyone to try to make a difference in their lives." [video at site] http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/11/09/st...they-did-brexit
"It’s a movement comprised of Americans from all races, religions, backgrounds and beliefs, who want and expect our government to serve the people, and serve the people it will." Donald Trump's Victory Speech 11/9/16
