GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson said on Sunday that Democrats and Republicans are at fault for America’s runaway debt.
“We are in the process of destroying the future for the next generation,” Carson told a crowd at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
“It’s been both Democrats and Republicans blowing up the budget,” he said. “How much longer will it be that we can print money? If we can’t, it will be much worse than the stock market crash of 1929.”
Carson then argued on Sunday that his medical background helps him see the nation’s fiscal policies with a fresh perspective.
“I’m not a politician so I can talk about it,” the retired neurosurgeon quipped. “They want to get re-elected so they can’t talk about it.”
