Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke to the press in the nation’s capital Tuesday morning to address the horrific terror attacks in Brussels. He mourned with the victims’ families, then pinned the blame on failed leadership both at home and abroad.

“Today’s attacks in Brussels underscores this is a war,” Cruz said. “This is not a lone war. ISIS has declared jihad.”

“It is way past time we have a president who will acknowledge this evil and will call it by its name and use the full force and fury to defeat ISIS,” he continued. “Until they are defeated, these attacks will continue. Their target is each and every one of us.”

Cruz, one of five remaining presidential candidates, urged America needs a leader who is not afraid to speak about terrorism in bold terms.

“We need a president who sets aside political correctness,” Cruz insisted. “We don’t need another lecture about Islamophobia.”

More than a change in rhetoric, Cruz noted we need a more robust security process. The Brussels attacks, Cruz said, are “the fruit of a failed immigration policy in Europe.”

He called the president’s plan to allow thousands of Syrian refugees into the States woefully wrong. We need “serious vetting,” he said.

Asked to address his rival Donald Trump’s suggestion on Monday that the U.S. withdraw from NATO, Cruz appeared visibly disgusted.

“Trump is wrong” when he says that we withdraw from NATO and retreat from Europe, Cruz said. “Trump’s proposal to withdraw from NATO is sadly consistent with his statement he intends to be neutral with Israel.”

Cruz also slammed the president’s trip to Cuba, before suggesting Obama book the next available flight to Brussels.

It will be interesting to hear President Obama’s tone at this morning’s press conference from Cuba and how it compares with Cruz’s unequivocal response.

Good quote!

Unfortunately he can't help trying to score points by distorting Trump's clear policy on Islamic immigration and terrorist threats.

"Texas Sen. Ted Cruz condemned deadly attacks in Brussels Tuesday, saying the incident was a sign that America is “at war” and warning that Donald Trump’s foreign policy is just as feckless, in his view, as that of President Barack Obama."

So, you don't think Trump is wrong? We should withdraw from NATO?

Here's a link to his remarks from a day ago on this subject:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post...ashington-post/

And more from http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/for...-s-role-in-nato:

However, Trump stopped short of advocating U.S. withdrawal from NATO, saying:

"No, I don’t want to pull [the United States] out. NATO was set up at a different time. NATO was set up when we were a richer country. We’re not a rich country. We’re borrowing….

I think the distribution of costs has to be changed. I think NATO as a concept is good, but it is not as good as it was when it first evolved."

I don't see a thing wrong with anything he said. To me it is reasoned common sense. So if his comments make him a kook, I guess I must join him in kookdom.

BTW, if you take a trip in the Wayback Machine I recall George W. Bush emphasizing how he was not a nation builder. I also seem to recall a lot of people, including me, staking their vote for him on that promise. So much for promises.

Personally, I've had enough of say one thing, do another thing politicians.

@truthkeeper, I agree. No more nation building.

And, no, if that is the quote, sounds pretty reasonable.

@truthkeeper

Thanks for the links. Once again Trump is accused of saying what he did not say. It's hard to keep up.

If anyone wants thenewamerican's take on Cruz's foreign policy advisors:

I didn't hear Donald Trump say what Ted Cruz says he said. Cruz seems to distort Trump's position so that it seem ridiculous and then attacks Trump for the straw man he created.
Trump wants NATO nations to up their ante and help cover the costs for their defense. NATO was formed in 1949! Things are different now. Asking other nations to help pay the cost of protecting them isn't a bad idea.

Trump has NEVER said he was neutral between Israel and the Palestinians. It's another distortion before he attacks. Trump wants to attempt to broker a peace deal and therefore he has stated he'll keep an open mind for that purpose. It was a strategic decision so that a deal might be reached.

It's why the "Lying Ted" label sticks. People who actually know what Trump said won't fall for it.

People lie dead at the hands of Islamic terrorist and our President shows himself to be a classless, disgusting moron.

He couldn't just get up, express his sympathy to the country of Belgium and for the victims, and then leave the damn game. He's such a total creep.
